J.K. Hawken Rifle Kit — Step 12: Adjusting the Buttplate Fit

The buttplate is installed in the stock and fit to at least a 95% level. It could be used as supplied but may benefit from final fitting.

If a closer fit is desired, use transfer color (Prussian blue, soot, lipstick, etc.) to mark the tight areas. To close any gaps, the buttplate generally will need to be shifted forward. Use a fine file or chisels to adjust the fit.
