Woodsrunner Rifle Kit — Step 12: Installing the Muzzle Cap

• The muzzle cap is machined to fit the barrel and should not require any additional fitting. The rearmost portion of the cap should fit against the stock with no visible gap.

• Attach the muzzle cap to the stock using the two small brass screws included with the kit. Two holes are pre-drilled in the stock that line up with the threaded holes in the muzzle cap. Install the screws through the stock and into the muzzle cap.

• The brass screws will stick out beyond the surface of the muzzle cap by about 1/8 inch.

• With the barrel installed in the stock, file down the screws, leaving 0.020–0.030 inch remaining. Lightly peen the remaining portion of each screw to fill the countersunk hole in the muzzle cap, then file flush.
