Staining with aniline dyes
We get them from Laurel Mountain Forge, and they have many more colors on their website. These stains can be used on their own, or on top of iron nitrate to achieve certain colors. You can even dip your scotch brite pad in a little bit of your finishing oil, then the dye and rub it on the stock that way. Staining is really just a matter of preference, it takes some experimentation on your part to get the look that you are wanting. -If you mess up, or really hate your stain, you can use some sandpaper wrapped around a file, or wooden block and sand the stain back off.
